Joseph Watson

My Story

My name is Joseph Watson. I am a husband and a father of four beautiful children. I am a firm believer in the greatness of this country we live in. I have dedicated my life for the last 20 years to support and defend the Constitution of the United States. I am a paratrooper, Forward Observer in the Field Artillery and a three time Combat Veteran. As a VA-rated disabled veteran, I founded this nonprofit to give fellow veterans a place to reset, reconnect, and recharge through fishing.

Reel Hero Charters has been a dream of mine for many years at this point. I have seen too many of my fellow servicemen and women take their lives because they had no one to talk to. The stigma associated with asking for help is real. The statistics are 22 suicides per day in our veterans and first responder community. I say 1 is too many!

Establishing this nonprofit organization with the entire focus on healing is the most rewarding purpose I could pursue. Veterans helping veterans, speaking the same language, is one of the ways I continue to combat my own demons.

Fishing has always been a passion of mine. I have fished across the country for a wide range of species, from the tip of Florida to the Arctic Circle in Alaska. Meeting people, having meaningful conversations, and building fellowship is what I have found to be the most helpful.
